Born somewhere in the Rhotano Sea to a clan of Sea Wolf pirates-turned-merchants, Idanwyn spent her childhood travelling the star. A friendly, easygoing sort, she’s small for a full-blooded Roegadyn, but still possesses the broad shoulders and hardy nature of her kinfolk. Idan never took to the axe nor any other combat discipline, instead training as a chef from a young age. She had many mentors in her chosen trade, each of which are immortalized in the dots or lines of the clan markings on her face. Love for the finer things in life led her to become a food and lifestyle reporter, first for the Mythril Eye, then for the Looking Glass, and, lately, the Harbor Herald.Idanwyn's lifelong affinity for elemental aether has only fairly recently found formal training; she is a geomancer, a pupil of the elders that reclaimed the Swallow's Compass. After unexpectedly inheriting her aunt Hymlbyrta's strange ship, the Nixie, she had to learn (and, indeed, is still learning) how to be the last thing she ever expected to become: a Captain.Idanwyn is capable of aether travel most of the time, and thus is quite fond of hopping around the star to visit favored friends and locales. She greatly enjoys attending musical performances, and has been known to pen the occasional article about them. Wheresoever adventure or luxurious leisure may reside, the good Captain will appear with bells on!

☽ Notable Physical Characteristics: Velvety pelt for skin. Simple grey tattoo on her nose and chin. Eyes have been known to occasionally take on a blue sheen atop their irises. Wears a great deal of mismatched gems at all times; some with empty settings, some with cracked stones. Hailing from a chilly, swampy cavern near Kisne in the Skatay Range, Oakmoss has lived a full life under many assumed names, of which Oakmoss is her current favorite. Never one to stay in the same place for long, the Veena wandered through Othard while raising her ten children, all of whom are now adults and only one of whom Oakmoss is in any sort of regular contact with.Mysterious to a fault, there’s no getting an easy read on this green-haired bun. She keeps much of her past a closely-guarded secret, including the strange line of so-called ‘witches’ she was born into. What is known is that despite her many faults, she has an uncanny ability to read the stars and perform other acts of forgotten magick; abilities that have kept her fed and clothed for most of her two hundred and eighty five winters of life. Oakmoss is also a talented thief; something she is half-heartedly trying to put to good use in order to make friends.Perhaps you enjoy following the deep paths of the forest to half-crumbled ruins and the secrets that may be revealed there. Born in Gridania proper, Primevere's flighty nature and general distaste for the circumstances of her birth led her to enlist in the Order of the Twin Adder. While enlisted, she encountered a company of Red Mages during a skirmish in East End, and, through events I prefer to reveal during RP, she learned their arts. Enjoying vermillion versatility, she travelled on her own for some time, having never left the Shroud before enlisting with the Adders.After earning her way to Serpent Sergeant Second Class, she was honorably discharged, and rarely speaks of her time in the service in the present day. Recently, she's moved into Empyreum, taking up an attic apartment that formerly belonged to an eccentric mystic; a setup that suits her just fine, as she has a keen eye for valuable antiques and a love for all things magickal.Primevere, perhaps as an homage to her namesake flower, enjoys studying alchemy, and has focused said studies on perfumery. Thavnair’s colorful landscape, while not the native rock of Sonorous River and his semi-nomadic tribe, has yet served as their home for many generations. Since the isles are a hub of commerce for the entire star, some canny ancestor of the Hellsguard’s decided that it was far easier for the customers to come to them by ship; all they had to do was travel by wagon to various ports and inland villages. River has long enjoyed the life he was born into, even if he never really got the hang of navigating the caravan, leaving that task to his uncle.Gentle-natured and gregarious, River is found wherever stories gather. He enjoys composing and performing music; he is skilled with the hammered dulcimer, and has a rich, lyrical voice as befits his name. Currently, he is contracted as a Hannish contact for the Nixie, and negotiates much of the vessel’s trade. Fortunately, he is as adept at this as he is terrible at finding his way to where the negotiations are happening; his love for learning the stories of others has helped him be a thoughtful, savvy merchant.The only thing missing in River’s life is love, a fact that he sometimes puts to lugubrious song; he doesn’t seem to realize that this is likely off-putting to many women who may otherwise enjoy his company. Even so, such feelings never darken his spirits for long; the banks of the star are many, and the River flows freely within them.

Once an unremarkable son of a Matriarch in the South Shroud, Jeveh’li Rivenroot has long since cut ties with the tribe that cast him out in his teen years. For a time, he refused to use his given name of Vosnhi, opting instead to use the surname Rivenroot. This moniker was a reference to the tail that his mother butchered in her madness, as well as a rather direct middle finger to the boughs of the forest that sheltered him until, abruptly, they didn’t. Thanks to trust built among newfound friends, however, he has reclaimed Vosnhi as his own.After drifting aimlessly for some time, he found he had a taste for the sailor’s life, and never looked back. His charming nature, athletic prowess, and full devotion to whichever master or Captain he served made him well-liked and eminently employable in certain Limsan circles. He found a real home as the quartermaster on the Spinner’s Lantern, a research vessel chartered to salvage valuable artifacts from the Lost City of Nym in the wake of the Calamity.More recently, the Spinner’s Captain Nora succumbed to a terrible curse, and Jeveh’li became mixed up with the crew of the Nixie in his attempts to find a way to break said curse. He is currently a trial member of the Nixie under the guidance and care of Rinh Relanah, but he is still determined to help Captain Nora recover.

Born to a remote settlement of the famous Marmot tribe, M'ehitabel is -- much to her chagrin -- not famous at all, actually. The grey-eyed Seeker did her part to defend her reclusive tribe when Garlemald invaded, but ended up fleeing under mysterious circumstances. Presently, she wanders the star, preferring mountainous and desert locales, and is known for offering to pay the tab of any who would share a story or two with her. She's a musical sort, favoring the lute and percussive instruments, and is known to blend the tales she's given into impromptu songs.Tabby, as she calls herself, prefers to listen and learn...although it won't be long before she butts in, asking as many questions as she can muster before being turned away.

Sayuri Kaifu

This character was originally written by Zakuro Kaifu, a friend and longtime FC mate, and was entrusted to me for NPCing. She doesn't come around very often, but when she does, she's fun to play! Sayuri is Zakuro's elder sister, and is much more serious and tradition-focused than the Nixie's Chief Engineer. Both sisters, native to Doma, were conscripted into the Garlean army at a young age; Sayuri is a more recent defector. When she left, she was a Frumentarii, using her shinobi skills to serve the empire from the shadows. Of late, she can be found lounging in the Lavender Beds cottage belonging to Zakuro and her fiancee, Odile Vremaix.

Anne-Sophie Bale (RETIRED)

Middle daughter of the minor Ishgardian House Bale, niece to the former Azure Dragoon Alberic Bale. A wandering Mystic Knight, First-Shard-traveller, and a scholar with a lot of feelings.

House Bale is an Ishgardian minor House known for occasionally producing Azure Dragoons; most recently and notably, Alberic Bale, mentor and foster father of Estinien Wyrmblood. Alberic’s elder brother, Raphael Bale, carried on the lesser-known duties of this House and passed it on to his three children, Felix, Anne-Sophie, and Noémie: namely, to foster all knowledge, though it may be considered heretical. Long shielded by the auspices of a few Azure Dragoons along the way, all those born to this House learn from a young age to avoid causing a stir whenever possible. Thus, they attend church, they train and serve as Temple Knights, astrologians, chirurgeons and teachers; all in service to what they view as their sacred duty to preserve knowledge and enrich Ishgard with all they know.Anne-Sophie, the middle daughter of Raphael and Mathilde Bale, is nearly always seen wearing her House ring and earrings; brilliant fire opals, with House Bale’s words, Suos Cultores Scientia Coronat (“knowledge crowns those who seek her”), engraved on their settings. Like all those who came before her, she trained in sword and spear from a young age, as well as receiving a comprehensive education at home and, later, the Scholasticate. Her ability to manipulate aether led to her serving in Ser Ibaux’s First Irregular Arms Unit in the Dragonsong War; a unit of so-called Mystic Knights, sanctioned by the Holy See in order to gain an edge against Nidhogg’s wrath. Every Ishgardian suffered in that war; Anne-Sophie was no exception. Once her first tour of service ended, she devoted herself entirely to the study of finding a different world; a gentler one, full of flowers, peace, and faerie tales. Though she succeeded in travelling to and eventually returning home from the First Shard, it came at great cost; the details of which can be learned by asking her in character!Anne-Sophie's insatiable curiosity led her to return to the First Shard at last, never to return to the Source. One can imagine she is still out there, dreaming, and serving a new code of honor.

↪Hi! I'm Esper. I love all things FFXIV (including the mighty paissa, in case that's not obvious), and have been playing since 2013.

↪I am generally lore-adherent, but this game's lore is eminently flexible, and I absolutely take advantage of that elastic creative space. In general, I really love incorporating elements from other Final Fantasy titles, as well as a few other JRPGs and real-world myths here and there.
↪As of 2024, my schedule is pretty flexible. I live by The Calendar :tm:, and I can be open most times for RP so long as I have at least a day of advance notice!
↪Currently, I only do in-game RP. I don't trust myself to stay focused on Discord, gdocs, or other mediums, unfortunately.
↪It's not a hard-and-fast rule, but I greatly prefer to write with people who are 30+.
↪I am an experienced roleplayer and writer, and I take particular pleasure in storytelling and DMing. I love nothing more than learning about others' characters, and generally live by the play to lift philosophy.
↪I am open to almost all RP so long as players are mature, respectful, and friendly about everything. I am not a fan of hardcore military-style RP or excessive gore, however. I do enjoy ERP so long as there's a reason for it. It's fun!
↪I'm a vanilla player, and have neither mods nor moon. I prefer writing out descriptions that differ from the in-game model. I don't mind roleplaying with people who use outside tools (or being in modded screenshots with permission), though! I'm also on PS5 about half the time, and prefer to RP when I'm on PC.
